Myneni bagels Daniel in set 2, en-route to beating him in R1 of ATP Challenger in China

INDIA’S NO.2 singles player Saketh Myneni defeated the top seed Taro Daniel 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 in the opening round of the GDP Cup ATP Challenger in China today.

In the opening set, the Indian served poorly and got broke thrice. Myneni couldn’t make any inroads on Daniel’s serve and in no time lost the set. However, in the second, Myneni came up with some clinical tennis and served a bagel to the Japanese to take the match into a decider.

In the final set, both men started playing high percentage tennis, but Myneni managed to break his opponent twice, which turned out to be decisive at the end.

After three entertaining sets, Myneni got the job done in almost two hours.
