Bopanna/Mergea suffer first round defeat at the Indian Wells ATP Masters
THE INDO-ROMANIAN PAIR of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea had to bow out of the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells Masters1000) in the first round for the second time in a row. The fifth seed lost to Spanish duo of Feliciano Lopez and Mark Lopez 6-2, 4-6, 4-10.
Bopanna/Mergea got off to a good start by taking the first set but the pair couldn't keep the momentum going as the Spaniards hit back by grabbing the second set. In the super-tiebreaker, Feliciano/Mark outplayed Bopanna/Mergea to nail the match and progress ahead into the tournament.
Before this loss, the Indo-romanian team had made a first round exit from the Dubai Duty Free Championships.
