INDIA’S SAKETH MYNENI went down to Frenchman Stephane Robert 6-3, 6-0 in the finals of the ATP Delhi challengers yesterday.
Myneni served poorly and especially struggled to win points on his second serve. In the opening set, the no.4 seed was broken twice and Myneni couldn’t get even a single break. In the second set, the no.3 seed completely dominated Myneni as the Indian’s serve continued to be under the gun.
With three consecutive breaks for the Frenchman, the match and the title slipped away from the grasp of the local favourite as Robert won the Delhi challengers in just under an hour.
Myneni with partner Sanam Singh also reached the doubles final but the duo lost to the pairing of Mahesh Bhupathi and Yuki Bhambri.
With a final appearance in the singles event, Myneni might just enter the top-150 for the very first time in his singles career.
