More than money, I am excited to play IPL for Kings XI Punjab: Armaan Jaffer

ARMAAN JAFFER scored plenty of runs in the Under-19 Cooch Behar trophy to break into the Indian U-19 World Cup squad, but the Mumbai lad couldn’t continue his dream run in the prestigious tournament in Bangladesh recently.

The nephew of former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer didn’t have a great time batting in the middle-order in the marquee tournament. Armaan could only manage a highest score of 64 and that too came against Namibia. As reported by DNA, Armaan said,

"I was batting at No. 5-6 where you get to bat late. So, you have to go for your big shots. There is less time to settle. Once you are settled, you have to accelerate and change gears immediately."

"I can build my innings and build a foundation, unlike at No. 5 or 6. It wasn't easy or tough, but I tried hard, ran fast. It was also about the team combination, which was settled. The wickets were difficult to score on. They were slow and the outfield was damp. Being a Mumbai player where the ball comes on to the bat, it was a bit tough."

Armaan also expressed his disappointment at India not winning the finals. That said, the talented batsman has plenty of cricket ahead of him going ahead and is also thrilled to be a part of the Kings XI Punjab for the upcoming IPL-9. The 18-year-old further added,

"It is a great chance. It's a big platform where everyone gets an opportunity to showcase their skill. More than the money, it is the opportunity that I am excited about.”
