IN A BREATHLESS 'cant' of super raids, not only has Kabaddi won the hearts of Indians on the TRP charts, it has also managed to lend a strong credence to respective stakeholders like the Dabang Delhi Kabaddi team, a franchise of Star Sports Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL). The National Capital Region based franchise has inked a slew of sponsorship for Season 2 of the tournament, with Red Chief Shoes as the 'Title sponsor' and Manipal Hospital taking up the 'Powered by' category.
In this edition, Dabang Delhi, owned by DoIT Sports Management (India) Pvt. Ltd, has seen Gaursons and AnantRaj stepping in as Associate Sponsors while Anmol Biscuits and DS Group (Ksheer) have come on board as partners for the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League Season 2.
Speaking on the tie-ups, team owner Ms. Radha Kapoor, Director, DoIT Sports Management, said,
“The market has responded well and engaging with Sponsors this year has been much easier especially after the success of Season one of PKL. The viewership for the first 14 matches has been 64% which is a sizeable shoot up from last year. The viewership of season 1 was a close second (435 million) to IPL 7 (550 million) and stadium footfall have been 92% across all venues- these are great signs for the game and I am happy to announce that the franchise has suitably evened out costs and rigorously working towards building a strong fan base."
Despite the emergence of more popular sports such as cricket, football, tennis and badminton, PKL has managed to chart a unique road, and the range of Sponsors who have associate with this year’s teams and league in overall has given a big fillip to Kabaddi in India but also catapulted the sporting extravaganza into the forefront among other lucrative leagues of the country.
Pleased with the association, Mr. Manoj Gyanchandani, Managing Director, Red Chief Shoes said,
“Red Chief shoes feel immense pride in associating with Dabang Delhi team in Pro Kabaddi League season 2. We as a brand have always celebrated the spirit of real strength & dedication inside us. Kabaddi as an indigenous sport has always been about strength, power, agility and confidence, same as us being an Indian brand and Indian by core. Speaking on our proud association, I have found it interesting to be the part of an indigenous sport like Kabaddi, taking forward this endeavour I wish Dabang Delhi to continue doing wonders in the matches to come.”
For a sports which originated in India, Kabaddi in the form of Pro-kabaddi League (PKL) initiatives have caught on the national sentiments and making it India's number 1 Rurban Sport. Pioneers of "Rurban" sports development, Dabang Delhi have been organising year round camps and talent scouting activities in rural belts of Haryana since their inception last year.
Dabang Delhi started their campaign in the second edition of PKL an currently with some valiant display of team efforts from our raiders and defenders are currently position in the Top 4.
Captain Ravinder Pahel with his spirited captaincy has already lead the Dabangs from the front and as we close into the second leg in the league Dabang Delhi’s performance has already seen two of their players (Ravinder Pahel and Kashiling Adake) figuring as top defender and top raider in the Leagu table. Delhi has finally come into their own in this season and are eyeing the title.
