Myneni beats Ramanathan in round one of Australian Open qualifiers, Somdev too ousted

SAKETH MYNENI has beaten compatriot Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-4, 6-1 in the round one of the Australian Open men’s singles qualifiers today in Melbourne. 

Myneni fired 8 aces and came up with a series of winners (22) to progress ahead into the qualifiers. On the other hand, the Chennai native struggled on his serve and also couldn’t convert his break point opportunities. 

In the end, the World no. 168 finished off the match in 66 minutes. Myneni will play Italian Lorenzo Guistino in round two qualifiers tomorrow. 

Meanwhile, India’s Somdev Devvarman too was ousted 6-2, 1-6, 4-6 in the first round of the qualifiers by Estonia’s Jurgen Zopp.
