Premier Badminton League commences with a gala Opening Ceremony

PREMIER BADMINTON LEAGUE 2016, which commenced today, saw a gala ceremony in Mumbai with Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta, Chairman, Premier Badminton League, declaring the opening of the prestigious League at Sardar Vallabh Patel Stadium.

 
The opening ceremony then witnessed beautiful dance performances by Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez in front of a packed stadium. Her striking performance on Bollywood hit songs ‘Je Mainy Yaar Na Mile Te Mar Jawan’ and ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan Ve’ left the audience mesmerised and shouting for more.
 
After Jacqueline’s scintillating numbers, renowned music composers Salim–Sulaiman presented and sang the anthem specially created for Star Sports PBL 2016. After the anthem, the composers sang ‘Aye Khuda Mujhako Bata, Tu Rehata Kahaa’, ‘Kurbaan hua’ and ‘Chak De India’, which received a huge applause from the crowd.
 
The emcee for the evening was the dazzling Mandira Bedi, who beautifully and seamlessly engaged the audience, ensuring that the League ahead will be as exciting as the opening ceremony
 
Speaking during the opening ceremony of Star Sports PBL 2016, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta, Chairman, Premier Badminton League said,

“It’s an honour for me today to be standing in front of this enthusiastic crowd who loves Badminton in the same manner as I do. History is about to be created as the Premier Badminton League will emerge as the most sought badminton event in the world. I would like take this opportunity to thank all stakeholders and partners for their support. Here, I would like to wish good luck to all the teams and players."

The Start Sports Premier Badminton League has started from 2nd January 2016 where six franchisees -- Delhi Acers, Hyderabad Hunters, Awadhe Warriors, Mumbai Rockets, Bengaluru Top Guns and Chennai Smashers -- will compete for the top honour. The opening day of the League will witness Awadhe Warriors taking on Mumbai Rockets in Mumbai.
