Injury forces Robin Singh out for the rest of the SAFF Championship

DESPITE REPEATED ASSURANCES from coach Stephen Constantine that Robin Singh's injury wasn't serious, it appears that the striker is set to miss the rest of the SAFF Championship.

The Bengaluru FC forward, who was, in Constantine's words, dealing with a lot of stress and fatigue after playing for Delhi Dynamos in the ISL, was in the starting line-up of India's opening match against Sri Lanka at the SAFF Championship. He scored two goals in the match before sustaining an injury that saw him get stretched out of the field.

He was taken straight to a hospital in the pitchside ambulance, but Constantine played down the seriousness of his injury and asserted that the x-ray reports indicate it was a minor knock.

He wasn't in the squad for the match against Nepal. He did sit in the reserve bench though, and when he left the pitch stadium after the match he had a bandage over his right knee and a visible limp as he walked.

And that is why, now that it has been revealed that his injury is serious enough for him to rule him out of the tournament, it hardly comes as a surprise.
