Mismatched Teams

Even before the start of the IPTL, we had pointed out that the five participating teams didn’t look even on paper. While the Indian Aces and UAE Royals looked formidable, the Japan Warriors lacked firepower and marquee names to see them through the grueling schedule. As the tournament progressed, the gulf between the teams widened as injuries in the Warriors’ and Philippine Mavericks’ camp further dented their hopes of qualifying for the finals. Furthermore, their replacements too weren’t any better. If the organizing committee could ensure that all participating teams are evenly matched over the five legs, then we could see a stiffer competition for a place in the finals. It shouldn't be a difficult task considering there are only five teams.
