AIFF show-causes East Bengal over misbehaving player & coach in U-18 Derby

EAST BENGAL Football Club has been show-caused by AIFF for misconduct of their player and coach during an U-18 I-League match between them and arch-rivals Mohun Bagan.

The 'Mini-Derby', held last Sunday at the Mohun Bagan ground, saw fans of both clubs clash in the stands and outside the stadiums. Objects were thrown from the gallery into the pitch more than once, and the match had to be stopped for a few minutes due to crowd rage.

But the Red and Golds have come under the Federation's scrutiny due to a particularly unbecoming incident where their U-18 team's coach Tarun Dey make an obscene gesture towards the crowd. At the same time, East Bengal U-18 striker Budhwa Bara appeared to taunt the crowd by exposing himself. The moment was captured by a fan's cellphone camera and has since gone viral.

Failure to provide a satisfactory reply to the show-cause notice may result in a suspension of both the coach and the player.
