Mexico City GP: Attri/Reddy qualify to the semis while top seed Jayaram ousted
MEN'S DOUBLES SHUTTLERS Manu Attri/ B Sumeeth Reddy reached the semi-final while top seed singles shuttler Ajay Jayaram bowed out of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
The third seed duo beat Ryan Chew (USA) / Fran Kurniawan (Indonesia) 21-12, 21-17 in 25 minutes. They bettered their own performance compared to the previous game.
The Indian pair have been on top of their game this year and if they keep performing well consistently then the title does not seem impossible to clinch. They now face Puavaranukroh Dechapol / Kedren Kittinupong from Thailand. World no. 20 meet the Thai duo for the first time.
On the other hand Jayaram failed to continue his dominant run in the tournament as he went down fighting against Artem Pochtarev of Ukraine 21-12, 14-21, 14-21. He took to Twitter to express his regret for the loss.

The match that went on for 48 minutes saw Jayaram win the first set but then he lost control of the following two sets and eventually failed to gain a spot in the semis. This was the first time these two shuttlers had faced each other.
