Saina and Sindhu get the highest bid, Srikanth highest paid among Indian male shuttlers at PBL Auction

THE PREMIER BADMINTON LEAGUE (PBL) which will kick start on 2nd January 2016 held its auction for 50 shuttlers in the capital. World No. 2 Saina Nehwal got the highest bid among female shuttlers and she was bought by Lucknow based team Awadh Warriors for a whopping $ 1,00,000. The Macau Open winner PV Sindhu got the second highest bid of $ 95,000 and she was roped in by the newly formed team Chennai Smashers.

World no. 9 Kidambi Srikanth bought by Bengaluru Top Guns for $80,000 took the title of highest bid among Indian male shuttlers, while Chinese Lee Chong Wei topped the overall list of highest bid male shuttler and went to Hyderabad Hunters.

Joining Chong Wei is the Indian badminton heart-throb Parupalli Kashyap who was bought for $ 35,000. 23-year-old HS Prannoy was sold for $47,000 to Mumbai Rockets, joining him are leading men's doubles player in India Manu Attri ($25,000) and singles player Gurusaidutt ($15,000). Another leading male shuttler Ajay Jayaram was sold for $35,000 to Delhi Acers.

India's leading women's doubles shuttlers Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa were sold for $30,000 each to Hyderabad Hunters and Bengaluru Top Guns.

Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto, winner of the recently concluded Indonesia Masters GPG went to Delhi Acers for $74,000. Thailand's singles specialist Tanongsak Saensomboosuk, with a base price of $15,000, saw an excessive bidding that ended with Awadhe's price of $41,000.

Russian Vladmir Ivanov was bagged by Mumbai for $42,000, while Malaysian doubles specialist Koo Kiet Kan went to Delhi for $36,000. Also England's Rajiv Ouseph went to Delhi for $36,000.
