Chennai-ATK semi-final clash first leg to be moved to Pune's Balewadi stadium
THE FIRST LEG of the semi-final match between Chennaiyin FC and Atletico de Kolkata, scheduled to be held in Chennai on December 12, has been moved to Pune due to the flood situation in Chennai.
The last match held in the city, between Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City, took place amid heavy rain. The showers caused a delay in the kick-off and parts of the pitch of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium were water-clogged.
The Chennaiyin FC team management had earlier put in a request with the ISL authorities regarding changing the venue for the home-leg in the semi-finals and their first choice for the alternate venue was Pune. After two days of deliberation, the final confirmation has just come out.
Chennaiyin FC played their last regular season game at Balewadi where they beat Pune City 1-0 to seal their place in the semi-finals, and the team has remained in the city ever since that match.
