Repeat of Fikru? Postiga reportedly rows with Habas, gets dropped from team

ATLETICO DE KOLKATA coach Helder Postiga made it clear in the press conference preceding the defending champions' match against FC Pune City that their marquee player Helder Postiga wasn't fit enough to feature in the game.

ATK's marquee player Helder Postiga, a 33 year old Portuguese striker who has played at clubs like Porto, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Tottenham Hotspur in the past, picked up a serious knee injury in the first match of ISL 2015 against Chennaiyin FC; a game where he had scored 2 goals already. He underwent treatment in Spain and rehabilitation in Portugal. Postiga re-joined the ATK team about two weeks ago.

Since then the striker has been participating in full practice sessions but Habas has decided not to field him in any match. A few days ago during practice this led to a slight confrontation, as Postiga demanded to know from Habas why he wasn't being played.

Yesterday, when Habas was asked the same question by journalists, he lost his cool for a moment and said,

"Postiga is training with the team, but he is still not match fit, He is still not fit enough to take the field. Now he is not available for ISL. Nor is he making much improvement on his fitness."

Speculations are afoot that ATK's marquee player has fallen out with the coach. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened either. Even last year, the franchise's most successful striker Fikru Teferra had a row with Habas and the Spanish coach dropped him from the squad as well.
