Integral part of IPL, Mitchell Johnson played crucial role in MI and KXIP's success

FORMER MUMBAI INDIANS teammate and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday hailed Mitchell Johnson's aggressive approach, after the Aussie bowler announced his retirement from international cricket.

Johnson's decision to retire with immediate effect came after a bleak bowling season that saw a decline in his pace. In the first innings of the second Test against New Zealand at Perth, Johnson returned figures of 1-137, making him Australia's fourth-highest wicket taker in Tests.

The fast bowler was an integral part of the IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, especially in the 2013 edition, where he picked up 24 wickets in 17 matches and helped MI clinch the title. It was here that he shared the dressing room with Tendulkar, who seemed to have enjoyed the pacer's approach to bowling.

Tendulkar tweeted from his official twitter account, wishing good luck to the Aussie speedster.

Johnson was snapped by the Kings XI Punjab in 2014, and played for them in 2015 as well. In 40 matches, Johnson has claimed 50 wickets at an average of 24.78.
