V Chennai Warriors enter the fray as the sixth team in CTL

ALL THE DRAMA and suspense revolving around the final team to participate in the Champions Tennis League is over. After missing out in the inaugural edition by a whisker, the V Chennai Warriors have confirmed their participation and will take the sixth and the final slot in the much awaited CTL.

The master mind behind the CTL, Vijay Amritraj hails from Chennai and it is only appropriate for the tournament to have a franchise from Chennai.

Given the tremendous success of the ATP Chennai Open over the years combined with the fact that Chennai has a rich history of producing tennis greats, one can expect a brilliant response from the knowledgeable tennis fans in Chennai.

As reported in The Hindu, CTL CEO, Arjun Rao said,

“We are super thrilled. This is Vijay’s hometown. It has the Amritraj pedigree. And it’s one of the two oldest tennis centres in the country.”

The Chennai Warriors will have a formidable line-up in Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco, former Australian Open finalist, Rainer Schuetler, upcoming sensation from Britain, Heather Watson, and India’s hopes Vishnu Vardhan and Dhakseshwar Suresh.

The second edition of CTL will commence from 23 November to 6 December.
