Shuttler duo Jwala-Ashwini ousted from Bitburger GPG
WOMEN'S DOUBLES SHUTTLERS Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa bowed out of the 2015 Bitburger Grand Prix Gold after losing to Samantha Barning and Iris Tableing of Netherlands 21-23, 13-21, 24-26 in the second round on Thursday in Saarbrucken, Germany.
The second seed Indian pair lost the first set by a margin of just two points, but came back strongly to win the second set by a difference of 8 points. However, the decider set turned out to be a close contest, and was eventually clinched by the Dutch duo, winning 5 consecutive points to seal the game.
It has quite been a disappointing run for the Indian duo as they seem to have lost the consistency in their performance which is evident from the last few tournaments. Jwala and Ashwini had got a bye in the first round.
