Relief for Amit Mishra in Bengaluru assault, complainant withdraws case: reports

INDIAN SPIN BOWLER Amit Mishra has been granted relief in the Bengaluru assault case, as the complainant has officially withdrawn the FIR two days after the cricketer was booked for alleged assault.

Mishra, who was in Bengaluru last month as part of India's pre-tour training camp, was alleged to have assaulted the complainant in his hotel room, as per the FIR filed. He was booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence).
The Bengaluru Police had summoned the cricketer to appear within seven days.

However, just a couple of days after complaint was lodged, the woman, also a friend of Mishra, decided to withdraw the case in principle. She added that once Mishra appears in the police station, the case will be settled amicably. The woman also said that no pressure was put on her to take the complaint back.
