REIGNING US OPEN Flavia Pennetta of Italy secured her place in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals in Singapore after beating Russia's Daria Gavrilova 6-2, 6-4, in the second round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
Pennetta, seeded third in the tournament, on Wednesday advanced to the quarter-finals, and gathered 3,252 points to ensure her presence in the 2015 WTA Finals, scheduled to be held from October 25 to November 1, Efe reported.
Pennetta will be representing the Mumbai tennis Masters team in the second edition of the Champions Tennis League in India which will be played in November 2015.
Pennetta joined German Angelique Kerber, Romanian Simona Halep, Spain's Garbine Muguruza, Russian Maria Sharapova, the Czech Petra Kvitova and Polish Agnieszka Radwanska, who have already qualified to the WTA Finals.
