Hyderabad wants CWC date change; Shukla says unlikely; Sethi takes dig at BCCI

THE HYDERABAD CRICKET ASSOCIATION are worried about the ICC Cricket World Cup schedule; and want some tweaks to be made to it.

According to reports, there are concerns about whether the Hyderabad police can provide security on back to back matchdays.

Hyderabad are the only city to host two matches on successive days; with New Zealand facing Netherlands on 9th October and Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka on 10th October. This issue, in turn, was caused by a previous tweak in the schedules.

Although HCA would like to see further changes made, it seems unlikely that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would consider making more alterations to an already delicately balanced competition. BCCI vice-president, Rajeev Shukla, who is also in charge of the Hyderabad venue, is reported to have said that more changes are unlikely to happen because it involves multiple stakeholders.

However, ex PCB chairman Najam Sethi didn't miss the opportunity to take a dig at BCCI about these proposed fixture changes.
