BCCI SECRETARY Anurag Thakur created momentary confusion over Ravichandra Ashwin's availability in the ongoing tour against South Africa, when he missed mentioning his name while announcing the teams on Monday.

The off-spinner suffered a side strain while bowling in the first ODI at Kanpur, and was immediately replaced by veteran Harbhajan Singh for the next two ODIs.

But while announcing the list of players for the last two ODIs and first two Tests against South Africa, Thakur missed taking Ashwin's name, leading to confusion. On being pointed out, Thakur quickly clarified that the spinner was very much part of the squads.

However, this was picked up within seconds on social media, leading to even more chaos as media outlets set out correcting their mistakes.

Head of the All-India Senior Selection Committee Sandeep Patil clarified that the bowler's medical assessment report will be submitted after the fourth ODI, reports suggest.
