One more IPL for Thala after this one?... Well, keep your fingers crossed!

After acquiring the record-equalling 5th IPL title for Chennai Super Kings, their captain, 'Thala' MSD said that he is still rather unsure of continuing at the helm of CSK for the 2024 edition.

He seemed to compare both possibilities—of playing or NOT playing.

"Circumstantially, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over, the easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be to work hard for nine months and try to play another IPL," Dhoni said after the mail-biting final.

He has taken the CSK franchise absolutely to the summit so it would appear ideal to quit while right on top and ahead of everything, but it will entirely be the fans’ loss; their love for him is what has propelled him all along, so not quite such an easy thing to do either.

Of course, for this to happen, viz. to continue as CSK boss, his body has to ably support him and he himself is aware of that. After all, being at the age of 41 and continuing to give your very best at the highest level in the toughest league in the game is not an easy matter—and that is why he still has not committed himself to this possibility so far. One hopes he might continue though.

It is indeed difficult to come back and play in the next IPL after a gap of almost 9-10 months, but certainly not impossible for someone like MSD to remain fighting fit even after this gap. Fans all over and in Chennai in particular must no doubt be praying and hoping that MSD continues to lead the team in the next IPL and keep bringing in the laurels. Only time will decide what is in store for all his diehard fans spread across the globe.
