Maharashtra’s Rahul Baitha and Urwashi Joshi have been given pride of place among the men and women in the 6th Cello NSCI Open National Circuit squash tournament, which will be hosted by NSCI at their glass backed squash courts from May 26 to 30, 2023. While Rahul is ranked No. 6 in the country, Urwashi is India No. 3 and both train at the JSW Squash Academy, Vasind. Seeded second among the men is Maharashtra’s Suraj Chand, followed by Vaibhav Chauhan of Services and Veer Chotrani (Mah). 15 year-old Anahat Singh from Delhi is the second seed among women, followed by Maharashtra’s Janet Vidhi and Sunita Patel.
The 3 Star event is being organized under the aegis of SRAM and SRFI and will also see competition for boys and girls in the age groups of Under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19. The event has received a total of 408 entries in the 12 categories and will see representation from 16 states, according to Championship Director Rakesh Jain.
The event for Men and Women will also be counted as a PSA Satellite event and players registered with PSA will get World ranking points. The men’s and women’s event will offer prize money of Rs 1.65 lakhs, while there will be no prize money for the junior events.
