IWL 2023: Lords FA off to dominant start, Eastern Sporting victorious

LORDS FA AND Eastern Sporting Union began their Indian Women's League campaign on a winning note today in their respective Group B clashes.

Lords FA took on Celtic Queens FC in today's first early morning kick-off. Soon, they took the lead through Fragrancy Riwan's strike. Then in the second half, their newly signed Filipino midfielder Kathleen Rodriguez expanded their lead with a hat-trick.

Meanwhile, former champions Eastern Sporting Union had a tough outing against Kickstart FC; another strong team in the group. They got through with the victory courtesy Moirangthem Mandakini Devi's goal near the half-hour mark but the match set up an upcoming top four battle where both clubs look set to feature prominently.

All four clubs will return to action on 30th April, with Eastern Sporting facing the prospect of making a push for the top of the table when they take on the relative underdogs Celtic Queens.
