The 3rd match of the four match Border-Gavaskar Trophy test series between India and Australia will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, India . The match will start at 9:30 AM IST.
Before getting into the details of the third match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy test series let’s summarize the second match Played on 1th February . Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss, choose to bat and led his team to a respectable score of 263 runs in the first inning of the match. India began with a solid start of 46 runs but were jolted at the loss of KL Rahul’s wicket making just 17 runs. After that India flew apart and lost wickets in Clumps. In no time they were 139 for 7. The outstanding partnership of 114 runs between Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel got India out of troubled waters, but despite that India conceded a lead of 1 run in the 1st innings. In the second innings the Indian bowlers bold a correct full length, keeping the ball closer to the stumps.
Australia batting performance was horrendous. In their second innings they overplayed the sweep shot, which proved be determinantal for them. On a low and slow track they should have played with a straight bat then playing with a horizontal one, giving the Indian bowlers an opportunity to have a ball. It was a proper demolition drive executed perfectly by the Indian bowlers. The entire Australian team was hustled for a score of just 113 runs, giving India a target of 115 to chase. India got this in straight 26.4 overs, registering a lead of 2-0 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Coming to the third match if Australia gets one more turning wicket like they did in the first two matches, it will be extremely difficult for Australia to save their face. Looking at the way that they have played spin they have played the spinners from the crease and not used their feet against the spinners. They have not shown the courage to leave the crease and attack the spinners. The Australia batsmen have not trusted their defence against the spinners, so if they want to compete and save themselves from a complete whitewash, they need to find a run scoring method against spin. As far as India goes if they get a chance to bat in the third match they should concentrate hard for the first hour of the test match and if any of two Indian openers get a good start they should try to make it big.
