Before getting into the nitty gritty of the first match,  let’s recap the last ODI played between India and New Zealand. Skipper Tom Latham won the toss and chose to bowl. The New Zealand bowlers were sent on a leather hunt as the Indian batsmen were striking them to all parts of the ground.
The glorious exhibit of fine batting by the Indian team was led by Rohit Sharma who punched 101 runs off 85 balls, Shubman Gill thumped a splendid 112 of 78 balls, king Kohli got a classy 36 of 27 balls, Shardul Thakur got 25 runs of 17 balls, Suryakumar’s quick 14 were refreshing but the highlighter of the innings belonged to Hardik Pandya’s 54 runs of 38 balls and together they propelled the Indian score to 385 giving new Zealand a target of 386 to chase.

As far as the new Zealand side goes, the only man who showed some kind of fight was Devon Conway Scoring 138 of 100 balls. No other new Zealand batsman applied himself on the crease as a result of which new Zealand war bundled out for a score of 295 and India won the game by 90 runs, completing a clean sweep over New Zealand in the one day series. a below average performance in this one day series new Zealand team failed terribly both with the bat and the ball.

Now going on to the first T20 match of the MasterCard T20 Trophy India needs to be on guard and not fall into complacency. New Zealand would be looking to give an improved Performance in this series and India on the other hand should be  looking to continue their domination like they did in the one day series. You should expect a competitive series from New Zealand in the T20 format, with players like Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips both the players are more suited to T20 and will be the key to New Zealand’s success in the T20 format.

The new Zealand T20 Captain Mitchell Santner will be crucial in restricting India to lower scores. Four overs will be decisive In determining the score that India would get to. If they bat first and  their 4 overs are miserly than the new Zealand team will be is likely to succed in restricting India to a lowest total. The need of the hour is to have control over these few hours and proceed comfortably in the rest of the Game.
