HIGHLIGHTS: India U-17 go down to UAE U-20 by 1-0 in Dubai Friendly

THE INDIAN U-17 TEAM put up a tough fight against UAE U-20 in a friendly match in Dubai today, losing 1-0 against the older boys.

The hosts took the lead just 5 minutes into the game through Mohamed Ali Khaled. But as the match went on the Blue Colts pushed back and created a number of chances; and the match remained competitive till the end.

The India U-17 team will play Uzbekistan twice this month, on 22nd and 24th January, in Goa. They are also scheduled to play Jordan next month, as they continue to build up towards the AFC U-17 Asian Cup that's slated to take place in Thailand in May.

Earlier, head coach Bibiano Fernandes announced the new U-17 squad that not only included players from the U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers, but also some of the top talent from Goa's AIFF Elite Academy. The full squad is as follows...

Goalkeepers: Sahil, Julfikar Gazi and Tajamul Islam.

Defenders: Ricky Meetei Haobam, Surajkumar Singh Ngangbam, Malemngamba Singh Thokchom, Balkaran Singh, Manjot Singh Dhami and Mukul Panwar.

Midfielders: Vanlalpeka Guite, Danny Meitei Laishram, Korou Singh Thingujam, Huzafah Ahmad Dar, Faizan Waheed, Gurnaj Singh Grewal, Phoenix Oinam, Paikhomba Meitei Khumanthem, Lalpekhlua, and Ashish.

Forwards: Aman, Thanglalsoun Gangte and Shashwat Panwar.
