The 1st One Day International match of the 3 match Mastercard One Day Series between India and South Africa will be played in Lucknow on 6th October. The match will start at 13:30 PM IST.  
 
This will be a vital series for team India to ensure the domination against South Africa continues after winning the T20 series. Shikhar Dhawan is a seasoned left handed opener who plays impressive square drives on the offside and can also play well over long off and long on with swing. Dhawan has played 158 one day International matches and scored 6647 runs, with a batting average of 45.8 and a strike rate of 92.1.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to make his ODI debut in this series and is already featured in the T20’s for India impressing one and all with his cricketing acumen. Looking at his List A career where he has scored 3271 runs in 64 matches with a batting average of 53.6 and a strike of 98.8, he looks like a mature product who can handle pressure at the highest level. It’s nevertheless going to be a test for Gaikwad in the one day format.
 
Rajat Patidar is expected to make his international debut for the Indian team in this series. He has played 45 List A matches, scored 1462 runs with a batting average of 34.8 and a strike rate of 95.0. He is a technically gifted player, as we have witnessed in this year’s IPL. He has the expertise to play pull and hook shots well over square leg and can drill the ball through long off and long on. It's his  forte to hit the ball well over covers with the spin. It will be a dream come true for this young and exciting prospect if he manages to get a chance to make his International debut for the Indian side.

SA:

Quinton de Kock can play shots all across the dial specially if he is provided with room outside the off stump. He has played 132 ODIs and scored 5774 runs, with a batting average of 46.2 and a strike rate of 96.2. At any given time he can smash you straight down the ground or can crack you through the covers. Quinton is a million dollar player and one of the best wicket keeper batsmen going around in the cricketing world. 

Janneman Malan is a young and exciting talent who can play the front foot punch well in front of point and can play the cut shot with envious ease through the offside. He has played 20 ODIs and scored 896 runs, with a batting average of 52.7 and a strike rate of 85.3. Malan can smash the ball straight over the bowlers head with brute power.

Reeza Hendricks can play the straight drive well down the ground and can also play cut shot well through the offside. He has played 24 ODIs and scored 567 runs, with a batting average of 25.7 and a strike rate of 76.8. Hendricks can also play fine sweep shot against the spinners through deep mid-wicket.
