AIZAWL FC'S GOAL TO begin the 2022-23 season with a silverware early on fell short today at the final step.
The People's Club lost to local giants Mizoram Police SC 2-0 in the final of the Independence Day Football Tournament earlier today, at Aizawl's famed Lammual Ground.
Although Aizawl FC went toe to toe with their opponents throughout the match and created more chances, but they failed to get a proper finish. And in each half, late in the action, they conceded.
It was Laldawngliana Colney who scored just before the half-time mark for Mizoram Police. And though throughout the second half the game remained balanced on a knife's edge with Aizawl gunning for the equalizer, the contest ended with Lalbiakhlua scoring just a minute before regulation time ended.
Both Aizawl FC and Mizoram Police will participate in the upcoming Mizoram Premier League, while Aizawl FC will send their first team off to Super Cup and the I-League.
