Aizawl FC edge past Chawnpui FC in Independence Day Cup

AIZAWL FC REGISTERED their second win on the trot in the Independence Day Football Tournament yesterday.

Coming off a win over FC Bethlehem, Aizawl FC took on Chawnpui FC in their second group stage game. The People's Club got off to a good start when Hmangaihkima got them the lead in just 15 minutes. Just before half-time, they doubled their lead through Amawia.

Chawnpui, however, did not let up and soon after the match resumed, they found the net courtesy Tlanzova.

CFC kep up the pressure for the rest of the game trying to draw level, but AFC were able to hold on to their lead long enough to make sure they took home all 3 points.

At the top of the group, Aizawl FC look set to progress to the next stage of the early-season tournament after they take on FC Venghnuai on Monday, 8th August.
