Kerala Premier League - Kerala Police, Kerala United FC register big wins

KERALA UNITED FC ROSE to the top of their group's points table, while Kerala Police asserted themselves once again in the Kerala Premier League 2021-22.

In the Group A match, Kerala Police continued their winning streak. Their campaign had kicked off with a 5-1 win over Parappur FC. Today, they defeated FC Areekode 2-1.

Although it was Areekode who had scored first in the game via Mishab, Kerala Police were quick to get even when Bijesh got one back from the peanlty spot. In the second half, Safvan got the second goal for the former 2nd Division League club that created a stir by winning the Federation Cup back to back in 1990 and 1991.

With this win, Kerala Police are on 6 points from 2 matches. In the points table they are just behind Sports Academy Tirur (9 points from 3 matches), but are already emerging as one of the teams to watch out for this season.

In Group B, meanwhile, Kerala United reclaimed the top of the table in a dominant victory over Kovalam FC.

An offensive rampage in the first half saw Kerala United get three goals; one through Jesin and two through Francis. Late in the game Manoj got one back for Kovalam but it wasn't enough.

This victory has sent KUFC to the top with 13 points from 5 matches. KSEB, who are on 10 points from 4 games, are trailing them closely.
