WATCH -- United SC put on a strong show in CFL, hold Mohammedan Sporting to 2-2 draw

UNITED SC PUT ON a staggering display against Mohammedan Sporting to hold them to a draw at the Calcutta Football League today.

The young boys of Nabab Bhattacharya's club went up against the veterans of the Black Panthers who according to many are the favourites to win the CFL this season.

It was Mohammedan Sporting who started the game on a stronger note. The combination of Jaskaranpreet Singh and Marcus Joseph would prove to be a crucial for the Black Panthers. Less than 10 minutes in, Singh set up Joseph for the first goal of the match.

But soon United SC equalized through a goal that was a brilliant display of their recruitment efforts through the districts of West Bengal. Youngster Subrata Murmu advanced with the ball, got past multiple defenders on his own and put the ball in the net.

Neither side was in the mood to let up, however. Not long afterwards, it was Jaskaranpreet's turn to get on the scoresheet, this time assisted by Marcus, the first goalscorer for MSC.

Once again, United SC put together a swift response. This time the one to find the net for them was Jagannath Oraw, another young recruit.

The game went into half-time with a 2-2 scoreline. It remained the same throughout the second half despite both sides pushing for a third.

The result is significant as United SC, with their young team, have proven themselves to be able to stand up to the best in the Calcutta Football League for the first time.
