Ritu Phogat demolishes Jomary Torres in first round, improves her pro MMA record to 4-0

RITU PHOGAT MADE quick work of her opponent again in her fourth MMA bout, earning a first round win by TKO.

Appearing in 'ONE Championship: The Big Bang', the undefeated Indian Atomweight was pitted against Jomary Torres from Philippines, who was coming in with  4-4-1 record. While she had started out her early run with back to back wins in ONE, she had run into bad times, suffering four back to back defeats. Her last fight, which took place back in January, ended as a no contest due to an accidental low blow.

Due to Jomary's experience in grappling and multiple submission wins on her record it was speculated that she might be able to deal with Ritu Phogat's dreaded takedown drives and vicious ground strikes. But in practice, it did not turn out to be the case.

Soon after the fight started, Ritu was able to land a takedown and gain top position. Her elbows and hammerfists accompanied by quick re-positioning caught Jomary off guard and she appeared to have no answers for them. Before long, Ritu had moved to side mount and trapped both Jomary's hands in a crucifix position that practically rendered Jomary helpless and defenseless against Ritu's elbows. The referee, after warning Jomary multiple times to improve her position, mercifully stepped in and stopped the fight.

With this win, Ritu Phogat has improved her pro Mixed Martial Arts record to 4-0. And the way she has bulldozed her opponents so far has signalled that the former wrestler is coming into her own as an MMA fighter, and will soon be ready to challenge ONE Atomweight champion Angela Lee for her golden belt.
