ISL 2020 -- Chennaiyin FC put together dream wingback combo of Reagan Singh & Lalchhuanmawia

CHENNAIYIN FC HAVE SIGNED two Indian defenders who both emerged from the heydays of Shillong football, but from rival teams.

Lalchhuanmawia, known to fans as Chhuantea, played for JCT in Punjab's state league before being picked up by Shillong Lajong in 2012. On the same year Reagan Singh joined Wahingdoh FC, which earned a promotion to the top division league on his very first season with the club.

The two youngsters immediately became favourites with their clubs' fan bases, and started regularly. Soon, Chhuantea went over to Bengaluru FC and found success there as well, serving a loan spell at Mumbai City in 2015 before joining Pune City in 2017. Reagan, meanwhile, became a regular at NothEast United, serving a loan spell there before joining the franchise full time in 2016. He played for the Highlanders till last season, apart from a loan spell at Mumbai FC.

Now both players, who have faced each other off in some fiercely contested Shillong Derby matches as each tried to run up the wing, will play for the same team for the first time at Chennaiyin FC.

A left back-right back combination of Chhuantea and Reagan has been something Indian football fans have pondered about for the last eight years, and ISL 2020-21 will bring them the first chance to see this long anticipated pairing in action.
