Why dropping Glenn Maxwell for the 2nd England vs Australia ODI could be rewarding

Glenn Maxwell might have scored a blazing 77, contributing to a crucial win yesterday for the Aussies against England in the opening ODI at Manchester. In the process, he also helped fantasy players win big.

However, picking the mercurial batsman for the second ODI on Sunday might not be a brave idea.

Considering how Maxwell bats in the limited version of the game and going by his track record, it is clear that you cannot expect such blistering knocks from him frequently.

Looking back on his performances in the last ten innings, it is evident that he has only disappointed his country and fans. Of course the fantasy players too.

It is important to know that Maxwell has only got one 50 in his last 10 inns.

Furthermore, he has scored more than 20 in only the three out of his last 10 inns.

Considering his impulsive nature and inconsistent record, it would only be sensible to drop him for the second ODI.

Remember, he only bowls a few overs too. So pick him at your peril.
