After a two year stint with Football Club Bunyodkor in the Uzbek League, which included 13 AFC Champions League matches, he joined RCD Mallorca and played for them over 5 seasons. He made 50 appearances for the club in La Liga, and played for them regularly when they got relegated to the Segunda Division.
In 2015 he joined Anorthosis Famagusta FC in Cypriot First Division. He played for them for the next three months as a regular starter, including two appearances in the UEFA Europa League.
Hyderabad FC, who finished at the bottom of the table in ISL last season, need stability in the midfield and having João Victor's experienced presence is likely to be immensely helpful to them.
