ISL 2020 -- Sk Sahil realises boyhood club dream, will stay at Mohun Bagan till 2023

MOHUN BAGAN YOUTH PRODUCT Sk Sahil, who had a memorable debut season with the senior team in 2019-20, will stay with the Mariners till 2023.

20 year old Sahil was one of the few Mohun Bagan players who held a multiple year contract last season. As expected, the deal was honoured by the new management of the football team which will now compete with the brand name ATK Mohun Bagan FC.

Sahil started out at the Mohun Bagan Academy as an U-16 player. He was one of the players promoted to the senior team by then head coach Kibu Vicuna ahead of the Calcutta Football League 2019. His performance immediately demonstrated his fitness for senior level football and he became a regular part of the club's victorious I-League campaign. The central midfielder earned 16 caps in the league which included 13 starts.

After the campaign concluded he also sat for his Higher Secondary examinations and duly passed them.

In the current squad he is expected to face a tough task getting game time, but the long contract gives the youngster enough time to grow into the role of a regular for his boyhood club.
