Former Gokulam Kerala FC coach Rajeev P joins Luca Soccer Club

Hailing from Ooty, Tamil Nadu, Rajeev is a vastly experienced AFC A License Coach. He came to the club’s notice while working with the fellow club, Gokulam Kerala in the Kerala Premier League 2018/19. Gokulam’s KPL record of being the only team to be unbeaten for 8 successive games came under Rajeev’s tenure at the club.

While serving as the Head Coach of Gokulam’s Reserve Team, Rajeev was also the Chief Coach of Tamil Nadu in the 2018 Santosh Trophy where he managed to guide the South State into the final round of the competition.

Club management was in delight upon securing Rajeev’s signature & hinted it’s a giant leap towards their ambitious roadmap. CEO Waivaw Srivastav said, “We had no second thoughts over Rajeev, as soon as we came to know he’s available, we zeroed on him & made him the only target. I was quite impressed after talking to him the first time, experience & qualification were the two most important criteria, but we wanted someone who is natural, a little bit old-school too. We didn’t just want a computer coach.”

Club Directors Navas KV & Musthafa Kamal also seconded CEO’s thoughts, “I came to know about Rajeev through our players who were his students. They gave a positive feedback on him. It’s rare that players credit coaches these days, which attracted me a lot. Being someone who has a working experience in Kerala, we felt that a lot of progress in less time could be made under him.” quipped Director, Navas KV.

Director Musthafa Kamal expressed positive thoughts too, “Luca Soccer Club is going to leave no stones unturned. We have signed a lot of specialized people from different fields for the next season. We are very ambitious & optimistic going ahead. We want to become the number one club.”

With the Kerala Premier League title in sights, Luca Soccer Club is hoping to conquer the football scenes in the state. The club will also field U13, U15 & U18 age-group teams in the Kerala Academy League which recently converted into the provisional round of the AIFF Youth I-League.
