Stadium availability, AFC Cup prompt multiple ISL 2019-20 fixture changes

SOME OF THE matches in ISL 2019-20 have been re-arranged due to various reasons, including stadium availability and streamlining of schedules.

In a press release, the Indian Super League organizers have announced,

"NorthEast United FC vs Jamshedpur FC tie scheduled for January 2, 2020, has been moved to February 10, 2020, due to non-availability of the stadium.

The postponed fixture between NorthEast United FC and Chennaiyin FC on December 12, 2019, will now be played on February 25, 2020 in Guwahati.

Originally scheduled fixtures on February 7, 2020, between Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC and February 9, 2020, between North East United FC and Kerala Blasters FC have been swapped.

The scheduled match between Hyderabad FC and Jamshedpur FC on February 12, 2020, has been moved to February 13, 2020.

The scheduled match on February 13, 2020, between FC Goa and Mumbai City FC has been moved to February 12."

Bengaluru FC are going to play their AFC Cup 2020 Preliminary Round 2 matches on 5th and 12th February, so moving their ISL match against Chennaiyin FC from 7th to 9th gives them some extra breathing room between the two continental fixtures.

Moving NorthEast United's match against Kerala Blasters ahead from 9th to 7th February also helps align their schedule for the match against Jamshedpur FC, which has been postponed to 10th February.

Also, with Jamshedpur FC's trip to Guwahati being postponed to 10th February, moving their subsequent match against Hyderabad FC from 12th to 13th February maintains a manageable schedule for the Red Miners as well.

The ISL regular season is scheduled to run till 23rd February, followed by the Playoffs.
