ODISHA FC'S FIRST EVER competitive match didn't have a happy ending as they went down to Jamshedpur FC 2-1 in Indian Super League.

The match, played at JRD Tata Sports Complex, saw a sold out crowd greet the Red Miners on their return to action.

Early in the match it was the visiting newcomers who faltered, with Rana Gharami unintentionally playing the ball into their own net. However, just before half-time, Adriane Santana Carbera scored for them to make it even at the break.

The second half was a cagey affair but towards the end of the match Sergio Castel finally got the break-through Jamshedpur FC had been looking for all game and sealed the victory for them.
