AIFC removes Alex Ambrose from core team, states call for an FIR

THE ACCUSATION OF misconduct against Alex Ambrose, assistant coach of the Indian Women's U-17 National Team, has drawn immediate responses from several quarters of the Indian football ecosystem.

The AIFF, for its part, has sent him back from the national camp and set up an investigation. But organisations related to Indian football and Ambrose himself have gone further to take their own steps.

The AIFC (Association of Indian Football Coaches) has issued a statement saying Ambrose has been removed from its core team. In a social media post, the AIFC said,

"SAFETY & WELL BEING of the players are of TOPMOST priority along with a NO TOLERANCE policy for sunch incidents."

Statement from AIFC

Member associations of the AIFF also issued a statement condemning the incident and asked the CoA of AIFF to appoint a woman safety officer for women's teams. They also called for an FIR to be registered regarding the matter as the allegation is of a criminal nature.

Statement from state associations

Fans groups from across the country also expressed their anger at the incident and indicted the AIFF for failing to protect the brightest young talents this country has to offer.

Many prominent groups and persons also echoed the demands of a full-blown criminal investigation into the matter.
