Well-worked set plays
The goal scored by India made the phrase ‘practice makes perfect’ exemplary. A free kick at the side of the box had Brandon stand over it. A free-kick specialist himself had the Omani defence crowed the six-yard box with multiple targets in there including Sunil Chhetri. India also had a man positioned at the deep end of the box, appearing to be awaiting a deflection from the crowd ahead. What happened next was not anticipated. As Brandon prepared to send in a high ball at the crowed aread, Chhetri snuck out from behind and created space for the low ball to be played into him for a spectacular left-footed finish. Creativity from set-pieces has been rare for India and could be a glimpse of more to come.
