Indian MMA -- Javed Mulla ready for ONE FC's Warrior Series, faces Devon Morris on June 20th

PROMINENT INDIAN MMA FIGHTER Javed Mulla is all set to fight Devon Morris in the ONE Warrior Series 6 on June 20th in Singapore.

The Warrior Series, which has been envisioned as a series of developmental events for the ONE Championship, has seen talented MMA fighters from across the world being pitted against one another to test if they have what it takes to compete in the ONE Fighting Championship, one of the largest martial arts organisations in the world.

Javed Mulla (MMA record: 7 wins, 2 losses), has only professionally competed on Indian soil so far. He has been active in the pro circuit for well over a decade, making his debut in the now defunct Clash of Champions promotion back in 2006, where he lost to Bhupesh Kamble by TKO in the first round.

After a 3 year break from professional MMA, he competed again, this time making a strong comeback in the Full Contact Championship. With wins over Salem Khn (second round TKO), Virat Singh (Unanimous Decision) and Nitin Gaikwad (Submission), he made sure to turn his career around.

In 2015, he fought in Combat Cage Fight 4 where he submitted Shubham Sharma via a guillotine choke in the very first round.

Riding a four fight win streak, Javed signed for the Super Fight League. In January 2017, he fought Hemant Wadekar in his promotional debut, but fell to an armbar in the second round. But once again he made a strong comeback from the loss. Between February and March 2018, he fought thrice, getting first round stoppage victories over Malkeet Singh, Amit Sawant as well as Vivek Jangra.

A Light Heavyweight (205 pounds, 92.99 kg) through most of his career, Javed will go down one weight class to Middleweight (185 pounds, 83.91 kg) for his first fight in the Warrior Series, where performing well has the potential for landing him a contract with a global promotion.

But the task won't be easy for Javed, as he will be facing Devon Morris, a fighter from the USA who has already established himself as a regular contender in the Warrior Series. Although sporting a modest professional record of 4 wins and 4 losses, Morris has some wind on his sail; he's on a 3 fight win streak, all of them by KO or TKO, the last two being in the Warrior Series itself.

For the fans, this fight promises to be a barn-barner brawl. Out of Javed's 9 and Devon's 8 professional fithts, a total of 2 have gone the distance, which indicates that an early night may be on the cards for one of the two.

The ONE Warrior Series 6 fight card will kick-off on 20th June at 12 noon Indian Standard Time. The fights will be streamed live on Hotstar.
