HIGHLIGHTS -- ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 -- West Indies fight hard but lose to Australia

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS AUSTRALIA NOTCHED UP their second win on the trot at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, beating West Indies by 15 runs.

Batting first, West Indies managed to restrict Australia to a reasonably competitve total. Carlos Brathwaite picked up 3 wickets while Andre Russell and Sheldon Cottrell picked up two all-out Australia at 288 in 49 overs. Steve Smith (73 off 103) put up a decent resistance against the West Indies bowling attack, but it was a stormy innings from Nathan Coulter-Nile (92 off 60) that got Australia to a defendable total.

In reply, West Indies tried their hardest, propelled by Shai Hope (68 off 105) and Jason Holder (51 off 57) but a memorable 5-wicket haul by Mitchell Stark with support from Pat Cummings (who picked up 2) not only refused to allow West Indies to form a stable partnership but also kept their run rate low. In the end, the Caribbean side could only gather 273 for 9 in 50 overs.
