HANS WOMEN'S FC PICKED UP their seconed win in a row, beating defending champions Rising Student's Club by a tight 2-1 margin in the Indian Women's League 2019 final round today.
The game was tight, as Rising put on their best defensive performance yet in the first half, nullifying the Hans attacks and keeping the score at 0-0.
Early in the second half, Hans broke the deadlock, with Nigerian medio Rita Casia firing into the net from 25 yards out. An emboldened Hans increased the volume of attacks, which yielded result just after the hour mark. Anushka Samuel scored, setting the club up for their second win in a row.
In added time, Srathanjali Panda got one back for Rising Student's Club. It was the very first goal that the Odisha-based club has scored in the final round, but it wasn't enough to save the defending champs from their third loss in as many matches, leaving them dead at the bottom of the group.
Meanwhile, Hans Women's FC have recovered well from their initial loss to FC Alakhpura. With today's win they have risen to the second spot in Cluster I, with 6 points from 3 matches, just behind the dominant Gokulam Kerala FC who are on 9 points from the same number of games.
