The hosts have already announced their 12-man squad for the opening Test. Much to the surprise of everyone, the selectors have benched Hanuma Vihari and Mayank Agarwal. Prithvi Shaw is going to make his debut in Rajkot. He is going to open the batting with KL Rahul. On the bowling front, spinners Ashwin and Jadeja will remain India's biggest weapons, as seamers Shami and Yadav could open the proceedings with the new ball.
Depending on the conditions, the team management will take a call on whether to play Kuldeep or Shardul. We feel India will give the wrist spinner a nod as his variations can be tough to pick for the Windies batsmen. Skipper Kohli and deputy Rahane will be key with the willow. That said, Pujara too cannot be ignored.

Roston Chase will bat no.5 and can also be called upon to bowl a few overs of off-spin. S Gabriel will lead the pace attack, while D Bishoo should be the frontline leggie.
