CFL 2018 FULL MATCH - East Bengal score late winner against George Telegraph ahead of Kolkata Derby

A SENSATIONAL LATE GOAL from Kaushik Sarkar got East Bengal a crucial win against George Telegraph at the Calcutta Football League.

Playing under pressure to keep up with arch rivals Mohun Bagan at the CFL points table, East Bengal faced tough opposition from George Telegraph. The Georgians defended hard, led by the acumen of veteran stopper Echezona, and foiled back to back attacks from the Red and Golds keeping the scoreline 0-0 going into half-time.

The second half began with East Bengal ramping up the attacks to get the goal and it came back to bite them. A little gap in the EB defence was all it took for Justice Morgan to swing a left footer into the net. George Telegraph took the lead with 70 minutes on the clock and now it was a do-or-die situation for the home favourites.

The packed crowd at the East Bengal Ground finally had their equalizer just 5 minutes later. Mehtab Singh scored from a pin-point cross sent by Al-Amnah and brought the Red and Golds level at 1-1. And a couple of minutes into added time, Kaushik Sarkar finally got the winner for East Bengal, sealing them a win by 2-1.
