EAST BENGAL RETURNED to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 victory over the young guns of Pathachakra.
The Red and Gold got their first goal early, just about 15 minutes in, as Brandon crossed from the right wing for a headed finish by Jobby Justine.
Just before half-time a penalty was given to East Bengal after Manatosh handled the ball inside the box. Lalrindika Ralte stepped up to take the spot kick and converted.
Jobby Justine added to his tally late into the second half, with Brandon once again providing an assist.
This seamless victory will go some way to shake off the upset draw East Bengal suffered last week. Now that they are back to winning ways, the Red and Golds will resume chasing arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the Calcutta Football League title race, where the upcoming Kolkata Derby looks set to serve as yet another title deciding encounter.
