Melbourne City FC announce squad for friendly tournament hosted by Kerala Blasters

PROMINENT AUSTRALIAN CLUB Melbourne City FC have announced their squad for their upcoming India tour, where they will play a friendly tournament along with Spanish top flight club Girona FC and ISL franchise Kerala Blasters.

The A-League club which experienced major domestic success for the first time in their 9 year history in 2016 when they won the FFA Cup will arrive in Kochi soon for the friendly tournament that will run from July 24th to 28th.

But the biggest star the club has, midfielder Daniel Arzani who is the only Melbourne City player who made it into the Australian national team that played in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, will skip the Kochi trip. But the football fans in Kerala will still have enough firepower to look forward to from the club, with Uruguay U-17 international Fornaroli who has scored 54 goals for Melbourne City in all competitions in the past 3 seasons.

Midfielder Luke Brattan, who is on loan from Manchester City FC, is also making the trip. Michael O'Halloran, a Scottish midfielder who played in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers, is in the squad as well.

Several young prospects like Connor Metcafe and Dylan Pierias, who are on 'scholarship contract', will also be a part of the squad and are expected to see some game time as part of their development process.

The tournament has generated a lot of buzz in Kerala as fans are delighted to get an early taste of club football in a season where both I-League and ISL will see a delayed start due to the upcoming SAFF Championship tournament in September.
