Khalid Jamil has stayed away from practice sessions after Bhowmick’s arrival

EAST BENGAL FC narrowly lost out on the I-League title. Despite their best efforts, it has been 14 years since East Bengal last won India’s top flight league tournament. This season they even got in I-League-winning coach Khalid Jamil to help end the drought.

Although, Jamil has yet not been fired from the job, which is not very common, as East Bengal are known to sack coaches shortly after poor performances. As the team prepares for the Super Cup round of 16, EBFC roped in their former coach Subhash Bhowmick as Technical Director.

But as expected, all is not well. Jamil has missed out practice sessions from the time Bhowmick has joined the club. As of now, Jamil did show up on practices but has avoided to take up the practice as Bhowmick led through. So if Jamil is at the club and not conducting the practice, what is he doing? Jamil confined himself to a room.

Bhowmick, an experienced coach, has already won the national league with East  Bengal is doing more than just overlooking operations. There is certainly a rift between the two coaches. Jamil would feel a bit under-valued after the arrival of Bhowmick and may just be any time from now that Jamil puts his foot down to demand more authority on the team.

One thing is for sure that if Jamil and Bhowmick work in tandem, East Bengal could revive the team together. On the other hand, if Jamil continues his non-cooperating attitude, he will soon be shown the door.

East Bengal FC play Mumbai City FC on April 5 in the Round of 16 of the Super Cup
